About this list

Yamaha HS8The Yamaha HS8 is an incredible monitor providing very accurate sound. It features a 1-inch dome twitter on the top and an 8-inch cone woofer on the bottom with an internal crossover point at 2 kHz. Its frequency response ranges from 38 Hz to 30 kHz. The amp on this monitor is 120 watts giving you level control. It also features a room control switch as well as a trim switch. These speakers are ideal for editing and also enhance your viewing and listening experience when watching movies or listening to music.
JBL LSR305 Professional Studio MonitorIf you are looking for a 2-waty active studio monitor that will deliver detailed sound and at a budget friendly price, then the JBL LSR305 Professional Studio Monitor will do just the trick. It features a magnetically shielded 5-inch woofer and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter enabling it to produce sound from 43 Hz to 24 kHz. Furthermore, its 40 watts per channel amplifiers are built in with a Class D construction. With the LSR305, it's clear to see that JBL used their innovations to create a monitor that provides big sound wrapped in a compact package.
PreSonus Eris E4.5PreSonus equipment features woofers which are 4.5″ but are Kevlar. The tweeter is the standard 1″ (25 mm) with silk domes. The amp is only about 50-Watts. Not that these won't play loud they're more than enough for a small home studio, so don't let that turn you off. The Eris E4.5 2-way monitor has gotten a lot positive reviews about its near-field listening accuracy as well as praise with their smaller size. No cheap plastic, knobs are made quite nicely — just a solid build altogether. Something to look at in the two Benjamins per pair area, especially if you want something to fit on your desk.
Alesis Elevate 6 ActiveThe Elevate 6 active speakers feature a waveguide that is elliptical as opposed to a straight or even curved, which has been applied in engineering frequently and is stated to give a more smooth frequency range. A larger than normal 6″ woofer and a standard 1″ tweeter here and the wattage is a total of 75 (50 low and 25 high), so they're not too crazy in terms of shattering windows but are very feasible for most budget-friendly studios. The frequency response is very flat so you're getting a nice, accurate sound to be confident with in your mixes.
M-Audio AV42Are you a beginner looking to upgrade or add more power to your desktop sound system? The M-Audio AV42 is the perfect solution for you. It offers a 4-inch woofer that delivers more power and a two built-in 20-watt per channel amplifier with a class A/B construction. It provides clear highs so you can hear every word when watching movies or playing games and offers larger low-frequency drivers giving enough bass support when listening to music. The speaker has RCA inputs allowing you to connect your computer or other devices such as gaming systems, DJ gear and mixers.
Adam Audio A7X Powered Studio MonitorBeing on the market for quite some time, the Adam Audio A7X Powered Studio Monitor is still a highly sought after monitor and with its features, rightfully so. It comes in a compact design but provides crisp, natural high quality sound. One of its most notable features is the X-ART Tweeter driven by a 50-watt class A/B amplifier, and this ribbon twitter provides more mids and high-ends enabling you to deliver incredibly sounding products. It also features a 7-inch mid woofer driven by a 100-watt PWM amplifier. The A7X is ideal for medium size studio setups.
Neumann KH 120A Active Studio MonitorThe KH 120A is the first studio monitor from Neumann and is a unique, compact 2-way monitoring speaker system tailored for near-field applications or as a rear loudspeaker in a larger multi-channel system. The unit is a very versatile studio monitor in a lightweight body and has a decent size making it easy to transport. Additionally, the unit comprises of a 5.2-inch long throw woofer and a 1-inch titanium fabric dome tweeter. A generous front panel port helps reduce bass compression and also makes it easier to mount in areas with limited space.
Event 20/20 BASThe Event 20/20BAS is based off the original Event 20/20bas released back in 1995. To improve on the old design, Event employed many of the newer technologies used in making their flagship monitors: the Event Opal. Compared to the original models, the new ones boast DOUBLE the power, with HALF the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). And that's DAMN impressive. Other notable features include a front bass port which is better suited for the smaller rooms of most home studios and 250 W power which is exceptionally high for monitors of this size.
M-Audio Studiophile AV 40This pair of monitor speakers by M-Audio equipment is geared more towards the home studio and leisure listening. The frequency response is in the upper-average mark at 85 Hz to 20 kHz, but I really wouldn't complain with the price. 4″ woofers and 1″ tweeters give it a nice feel in terms of low and high frequencies. The Studiophile AV 40 monitors features the RF interference protection, temperature help, transient and subsonic filters. It is advised to keep the speakers off when they are not in use to save their lifespan.
